Paintings of Hasmik Avetisyan

To tell the truth it’s not that easy to speak about an artist who’s world is so rich, so complicated, who has so much to say, who is so unpredictable. To feel the profundity of the paintings of Hasmik Avetisyan, to realize her somehow, I decided to visit her studio. As soon as I entered the studio I appeared in an entirely new world, a world of bright colors, a world in which there exist no conditions, no curved stereotypes. Here the artist is free to paint her ocean in red or outline the sky with yellow if she wishes. Hasmik Avetisyan lives in a unique universe, where she is given the right and the ability to set things the way her imagination tells and lead them in the direction where there is no cessation.

Paintings of Hasmik Avetisyan are so varying; on the one hand they are deep and it’s not that easy to catch what is on the artist’s mind, on the other hand they are sincere, they are explicit, so open-hearted, like the artist herself.

Here in this fabulous world I realized that Night could be reflected in three colors, here I could pick Dandalions in bright colors The artist covers Sadness with a veil of happiness. In Hasmik’s studio one will undoubtedly Dream to fly or will wish to take the sky on his shoulders. In this mad world of an artist the clouds are outlined with yellow and the sky is entirely transparent. Hasmik’s paintings will take you to Dead cities and you’ll feel the damming effect of these cities. The series of her pictures titled in the names of the seasons will justify the truth that Hasmik is never being the slave of any kind of terms and conditions.

Inspired by Christianity, Hasmik painted a series of crosstones. These pictures will tell you about Armenia as an ancient Christian nation that has preserved the values of old Christian religion and carried them to our days.

The greatest part of Hasmik’s paintings are oil canvases. Hasmik considers herself an abstractionist who can be inspired by anything beautiful, anything that is unusual that is beyond the limits of being habitual.

Speaking about the colors of Hasmik Avetisyan I would say that all the colors of the world and even those about which people do not know and have never seen before, even such colors can be noticed on the colour pallete of Hasmik Avetisyan.

Hasmik Avetisyan

From time to time I wonder what would be like the end of the 21st century if we view it from the angle that it is the century of high technologies, a century in which the virtual world has taken its tall on spiritual values. However, after all, there remain values too irresistible to vanish and one of suchlike values is art. Nowadays we are given the opportunity to combine these two worlds, the world of art and the virtual one.

Today I'd like to share my ideas and thoughts about modern Armenian artist Hasmik Avetisyan. Hasmik calls her art a way of salvation, a means to escape from the external world. The real world is smaller than the world of imagination, so Hasmik enlarges her world and calls this unique ability a gift of nature.

On the one hand Hasmik reflects "A dream about flying" making you feel at ease, on the other hand, she may take "The sky on her shoulders," she may let you see how people look when they lead a "Conversation in masks" or reflect the damming effect of the "Dead city."

The topics are vraying and there is always a lot to say.

By all means, Hasmik never forgets about something very important... she has to become the breath of time to be noticed, to be appreciated. While painting Hasmik combines her feminine emotions and origin with restrained sense of intellect that does not lie heavy but rather goes above the concept of sex and becomes just human.

The artist does not have the right to be the slave of any kind of dependences so Hasmik sets herself free from conditionalities. Hasmik's art is transparent, so each of you is welcomed to find you own world in her works.
